Another tricky one

How would you go about obtaining the html result of a control rendering without the use of a server side aspx page.

I have a hunch it's something to do with the render function, but this only forces the render.

I suppose I could force the render and try to obtain the html code from the render method, but would it be possible to do without rendring it on a page?
