Are you using Windows 7 yet?
Just a quick poll to find out how many of you have made or are planning to make the jump to Windows 7?

RE: Are you using Windows 7 yet?
I'm currently suffering away on VISTA, I'm not sure if it's just me but it really is pants. Give me XP back anyday, hell, '98 would be preferential to this.

I will be upgrading super soon though, so that's exciting!

RE: Are you using Windows 7 yet?
Yeah Vista is a real pain and real slow on all but the most powerful of machines.

Windows 7 is to Windows Vista what XP was to ME.

Well worth the investment and runs nicely and a standard PC spec.

That's what I'm thinking, about time I upgraded. Plus I get it cheap for the next few weeks while still a student.

RE: Are you using Windows 7 yet?
I'm currently on Vista and to be honest thanks to my computer set up (Quad core 8Gb RAM) have had no real issues with it so far.

I am tempted to migrate to Windows 7, but am scared as to whether I will lose any of my data during the shift over.

And a plug for the company I used to work for, because it's always nice to spread the link love. Wink

Yeah I had Vista and had a few issues with it, nothing massive but lots of irritating bits that didnt do what they should.

Windows 7 is massive improvement it still has some quirks though, like the VPN security being set IKE by default meaning you end up with a hung VPN connection attempt.

The company I work for have rolled out XP since it came out but never installed Vista for any clients unless there was a specific need for it. However within the first month of trialling Windows 7 we have rolled it out almost as standard.

Why would you loose any data mate? If done right you could upgrade and not even need to reinstall programs.

RE: Are you using Windows 7 yet?
In Vista, you have several security-related icons in the system tray, and you might have notifications popping up from each one. To make changes to security settings, you may have to open several applications. In Windows 7, all the security messages have been consolidated into one icon.
