Asda story - login problems.
posting this on behalf of my friend.
____________________________ Alright, so I have a PC [Windows XP pro] and a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop [Vista pro]. Both are decent. I started playing a game called "Asda Story" with a friend. It works fine on the PC and is Vista compatible, but when it comes to running it on the laptop it fails. Lets me start up the game, seems to do alright with GameGuard then before it goes into the log-in screen it comes up with this: http://i34.tinypic.com/8yb6om.png http://i36.tinypic.com/33mmniw.png The only difference other than the OS is that my laptop runs Windows Live OneCare. And yes, I've added Asda to the exceptions list and such. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thank youuu. |

Hey Ninja, not played the game and can find very little help online, however did come across these tips:
Quote: 1. Right click on Asda Story in ur desktop and choose "properties" which is the last option. Quote:Right-click My Computer, go to Properties. Both relate to problems connecting in Vista. http://www.rs-anime.com/asdadream/forum/...howtopic=9 Ask your friend to try them and see how it goes. What do you do in Asda Story? Start by collecting trolley's then work your way up to General Manager? - Techmonkey ================ Enterprise Business IT Support | SME IT Support | Home Support Available |

hey kid. thanks for the reply... LOL no you dont collect trollies or get trollied
although i did laugh a bit at the name before i played it. it's the typical MMO game of you being archer/knight/mage type game... free to play so it's good ![]() me and my friend both have tried googling and not found much info that helps. and have found most of the GM's on the asda story forum loves to copy and paste their responce saying the problem comes from being updated to the latest service pack/drivers/blah blah when the GMs themselves do not read the post or know they have actually done that already. and cant have any other responce... gets a little frustrating lol good game but bad management

As far as I could tell the website for the game itself is no longer updated or supported by the game makers, a lot of dead links in their support pages.
So you have already tried those fixes above? - Techmonkey ================ Enterprise Business IT Support | SME IT Support | Home Support Available |

Is there any other security software on the vista machine, have you tried it with that disabled? - Techmonkey ================ Enterprise Business IT Support | SME IT Support | Home Support Available |

tried it all.
other games work. the game has 'gameguard' on it. seems to work fine with other games that have the same company offering their anti cheat system. it seems like re-downloading and re-installing doesnt even help the login issue. i have a feeling something on the computer is not allowing the login protocol to happen... i know the other game 'rohan online' used to use http for their login protocol... so if you took the url / command line and paste it in your browser it'd take you to the server selection screen on your browser (but cant do much after) but why would it not allow it? the security stuff were disabled and yet you cant play. i guess it's just one of those things... personally i'd format it just to make sure lol but she wants to do it another way not sure many people agree with the idea of reinstalling everything on the hard drive to see if a game can work then but i cant see any other way lol

Unfortunately this may be one of those things we cant answer as it appears to be a problem with this specific game and without knowing exactly how it tries to connect to the login server it is hard to say what is being blocked.
Have you tried with UAC disabled? How to disable UAC: http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm - Techmonkey ================ Enterprise Business IT Support | SME IT Support | Home Support Available |

Hi, I'm the friend he's posting on behalf of. Thanks for all your help so far. It's a frustrating issue.
Interestingly the game worked earlier while I was at home, having not worked there previous times I tried it. Now I'm at University for a few days a week, I find it comes up with the error while I'm on the Uni network. When I get back home I'll see if uni has jynxed it again. D: So I'm wondering if it's the Uni firewall [although a similar game FlyFF works fine] or my network settings being public. Although changing the network type to private hasn't helped the issue either. Another difference is at home I use wireless, while at uni I use cable. |
