Best Broadband Deal
Hi Monkeys,

I am looking for a better broadband deal, currently I pay PlusNet 21.99 a month for static IP and 10GB usage limit (I am starting to use bittorrent a lot more heavily now), and my currently line speed is 512KB.

I am looking for a new provider but i am unsure who does a good deal and who is the best to go with, any suggestions (with reasons) would be appreciated.

PS, I am currently a Sky customer and I am also looking at their Max broadband package, anyone got any comments on that?

Personally I have been on virgin media on a 4mbps line being throttled to death like everyone else on that crap.

Looking to switch to https://www.bethere.co.uk/, only problem is that even though I still get a dial tone on my old bt line they say that you have to pay the re-connection charge of £125 after three months of not having their service.

Does sky still have terrible upload rates? At least they aren't part of the three ISPs (bt, virgin, tiscalli?) who are planning on selling user data to advertisers.

Fool that I am, I went with BT on the premise they could install my broadband on the same day as my phone line was activated (unfortunately they screwed that up and made me wait 2 weeks).

At £25 pcm, unlimited bandwidth, they aren't cheap, but they have proven to be surprisingly solid, with no downtime that proved to be their fault in the 3 months since starting. Record router (BT) uptime of 33 days, which ain't half bad either!

But there's probably cheaper options Tongue

Well on the recommendation of my brother (Fluffy), I have decided to go with Sky on their max package at 10 quid per month (as I am already a sky customer).

We shall see how they measure up.

Resurrecting the thread... My BT contract expires middle of next month!

Line rental and broadband between them are currently costing me £40 pcm, so I shall be taking the opportunity to bail out of this crazy deal :bfg

Currently looking at TalkTalk, with their £17 pcm (including phone, broadband, line rental, and free router). 40 gig limit, but after a lot of monitoring, I know that rarely crack 20 in a month, even with heavy online gaming.

That's £276 per year saved Big Grin

Any other suggestions? I don't have sky/cable TV and don't really want to either, so just broadband packages please ^^

I know you say you dont have and dont want Cable,

but if you can get your broadband, line rental and the TV for £16, then why would you not?
