Connected to wireless router but browser not working
I've been fighting this problem for a couple of weeks now and I have viewed numerous forum threads but have not gotten anywhere.
I can connect to my wireless Netgear router but when I try to open an IE browser the browser times out. I can connect my laptop directly to the wireless router with an Ethernet cable and then the browser works fine. I have another laptop in the house and that laptop can connect to the wireless router and browse the internet just fine. The only thing I have done to my laptop right before this problem occurred was to uninstall McAfee and install Trend antivirus software. I also have a Hijackthis log file if needed. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Another strange twist...
I can also connect to a neighbor's unsecured wireless router and browse the internet with no problems. It is only when I connect to my Netgear secured router that I have the problem with the browser not working.

I followed the instructions and created and ran the *.bat file. My laptop rebooted as it should but did not connect to the wireless router. I did a "repair" option on the connection and it connected fine. I brought up an IE browser but it did not connect to the internet. I ran a network diagnostic from IE browser and got the following:

Hopefully one of the Networking members here can help you. Thanks but I tried that as well. I did a factory reset on the Netgear router and reset the WEP code. Still can't run a browser from my laptop. This is the strangest problem I've had to deal with.

I like to look at a HijackThis log on that computer.

As another test I just connected to a neighbor's unsecured router and browsed the internet just fine. I connected back to my router and immediately could not browse the internet. This points to my router but I did a factory reset on it. Puzzled in the USA.

Quote: Puzzled in the USA.I live in S.C were close. You can try to disable Trend Micro Personal Firewall: http://esupport.trendmicro.com/3/How-do-...38273.aspx And try this. Also, shut down all computers and unplug your modem and router for two hours. Then plug up your stuff and power up all computers and see if this works? If not, I would call Netgear 1-888-638-4327 on this. They will allow you one call for free. I would not paid them. Your are better off buying a new one.
