Display Driver Problem
Hello, everyone. I hope someone can help me with the following problem.

I have had a problem for some months with my monitor just freezing. Generally, I have had to reboot in safe mode and fumble around (using the troubleshooter or searching the internet for solutions). Until now I have been able to get back up and running one way or another, but the problem keeps returning. This time, I just can't seem to be able to do anything to resolve the problem.

As far as I have been able to determine, the problem is with my video card, NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT. I am now only able to boot in safe mode.

The errors I have been getting in the Event Viewer are as follows:

1) Service Control Manager Event ID 7026

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AmdK8
AvgLdx86
AvgMfx86
Fips

2) nv Event ID 14

3) nv Event ID 108

4) System Error Event ID 1003 (Category 102)

5) Service Control Manager Event ID 7022

The NVIDIA Display Driver service hung on starting.

6) Service Control Manager Event ID 7011

Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the NVSvc service.

Many thanks in advance for any help.[/code]

RE: Display Driver Problem
Hi Dalong,

Sorry we missed your post if you haven't yet managed to resolve your problem can you try the following for me:
  • Restart your computer in safe mode.
  • Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  • Locate the following registry key:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Intelppm
  • Right click on the Intelppm in the left hand pane and choose Export.
  • Save the file somewhere where you can find it again, this is a backup in case you have any problems by making this change.
  • Once again in the Regedit screen, in the right pane, right-click the Start entry, and then click Modify.
  • In the Value data box, type 4, and then click OK.
  • Exit Registry Editor.
  • Restart your computer.
