Donkey Kong Country Returns

Just watched this trailer from E3.



It's a new game on Wii due out in fall 2010. Yet another super classic Nintendo game getting a rehash and touch up. I must admit that when I was younger I loved the original Donkey Kong Country game on the SNES so when I watched this trailer I got all nostalgic and excited.

I must add as well that I think this is how Nintendo have managed to continually bring out excellent games, they make games that people want to play and that are there to be played, not just looked at and admired for graphic prowess.

However, I also worry that there appears to be no/very few actually new ideas coming out of Nintendo. This worries me because new gamers won't join the Nintendo bandwagon for nostalgia and reliving your youth if they've never played the originals, and also because at some point Nintendo will run out of classics to rehash, where will they go then?!?

Anyways, there's my ten pence, tell me what you think of Donkey Kong Country Returns? I'm excited!

I too loved DK country back on the snes, spent many an hour on this.
Unfortunately with no wii i will not be able to re-live the old days.

this is what the xbox is clearly lacking, some good old fashioned platform games.

Think you might need to look around the XBLA a bit more. Only last month a HD remake of Earthworm Jim was released (it was also released on the PSN this week). Also for the XBLA are Braid and Limbo which have received very good reviews since their releases. On top of all of this there are plenty of classic games like Golden Axe, Double Dragon, Streets of Rage and Worms to be found on there.

Not only that but HD remakes of Monkey Island 1 & 2 are out... although I've since discovered that you can speed through monkey island 2 in less than three hours (makes me think that most of the game experience I had when I was young was swapping out one of the 14 disks it came on).

My problem is I only really play new game when I have played my current game to death, which means by the time I get to a new game everyone else got bored of it 2 years ago lol


Cant say Ihave any nostalgic feelings for DK, although I do think I played it some.
