Epson Stylus Photo R285 not parking as it should.

Hi Peeps,
I'm a newbie on site so forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place.

I was given an Epson Stylus Photo R285 printer that had recently been overhauled and had a CISS fitted by a dealer. So I assume all was OK. My friend un installed the inks from the cartridge carrier in preparation for transporting to me. That's as far as its got...the printer will not operate the carriage into the "parked" area...or move to the "cartridge renewal" spot. When switching the printer "On" there is a short sound Zzz...then both lights to the right of the On switch flash at one second intervals. The cartridge carriage can be manually moved from left to right and back again...but not by the motor.
I've tested the micro switch for the lid on/off...also the motor. There is no indication of anything broken. The carriage doesn't lock in the parked area...it just sits there.

Can anyone suggest a cure please.[/size][/font]
