I can't find 'show contents of system directories' to (hopefully) enable a cure for above error (vista). Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi

You can set the option to be able to view hidden files by clicking start then selecting run. In the Run command type "control.exe folders" without the quotes and hit enter. This will load folder options in this window select the view tab and check the radio button next to the option for "Show hidden files and folders"

Yuo can also access this same window by pressing alt while in an explorer window to bring up the hidden menus then select Tools, Folder Options.

Hope this Helps

Dave

I was also facing the same problem with my Vista computer. I followed the given steps:
• Open the Control Panel
• Make sure Classic View is selected on the left
• Double-click Folder Settings
• On the View tab, uncheck Hide protected system files. A warning will show, just click Yes.
• Check Show the contents of system directories
• Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
• Scroll down and choose Show hidden files and folders
• Press OK to save changes.
