Error trying to redirect user profile (SOLVED)
I have set up a new file server for a company last night and moved all their files, folders and shares across.

All is working except for one user who's folder redirection their My Docs is refusing to work.

The old path was \\server\users\%username%

The new path is \\file_server\users\%username%

Originally there was an access denied message in the event viewer, but after some tinkering that message has stopped coming up.

I have check and double checked permissions on both locations and the user has full access and is the owner of the folder and all sub folders.

The only thing I have noticed when I tried the rename her user folder on the old server (just to test she had the permissions to do so) is it comes up with the message "<user name> is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be moved or renamed."

Trying the same thing with any other user doesnt give this problem.

Any thoughts?

Error trying to redirect user profile (SOLVED)
I have had this problem before and fixed it by taking ownership of the root folder with the account I was logged on with then reassigning ownership to the correct user. Before doing this check that inheritance is not blocked anywhere down the line, when I did it inheritance was blocked on the Desktop and Documents folders

Sorry i should have updated this thread.

There was one corrupt file in her documents, simply called 6 (with no file extension). This file was causing all the issues, I forced it to delete and then the move went swiftly.

Cheers anyways fail whale
