Playstation 3: Red Dead Redemption

Does anyone on here play Playstation 3 much?

I've just bought one, and it should be arriving shortly. I was inspired by the new Red Dead Redemption game... looks super sweet! It's out on the 21st, I'm thinking a bit of Techmonkeys multiplayer could be in order if anyone is game?

Can't been a good ho-down!

I'll wing out a review of the game on here when it arrives, fingers crossed it's half as good as it looks!

Unfortunately my latest console is the Wii. No fancy PS3's for me

Although I am thinking of getting a console, but I think I would veer towards an xbox 360 as most people I know have them and would be better therefore for playing online

Currently working through RDR on the PS3 so will have my own take on the game to put up here shortly.

Just need to give the multiplayer more of a test and finish the main parts of the plot to ensure that I give a full and fair view to the game.

Techmonkey, I understand where you're coming from regarding the Xbox, most of my friends have one, but I weighed up my options and decided that I wanted more from my console than to just play games.

Blu-Ray, integrated WiFi, a free online service with an internet browser and the option of playing pretty much all of my DivX and Xvid movies from the one location swung it for me, so as soon as a friend was selling his for £150 plus a game I snapped it up straight away. Since then I've taken advantage of how easily upgradable the PS3 hard drive is and swapped out the original 40Gb hard drive for a 320Gb beast that I can fill as I see fit, although I think this could have led to the fan in the PS3 kicking in thanks to the additional heat it may have created.

I will admit that multiplatform games do seem to run better on the Xbox, but when it comes to first party games the PS3 is showing it is a more than capable machine with Uncharted 2 and God of War III completely dropping my jaw through the floor.

The biggest problem with the Xbox for me though, speaking as a PC gamer, is that the owners have to pay for a Gold membership to play online multiplayer games and at a price of £30 for the privilege of having something I'm used to getting for free. Plus, by having a similar (although not as complete service) on the PS3, it means I get to buy at least 1 extra game a year for that price.

Totally agree here Mr Hedges, I figure buy a PS3 and it'll be around and useful for ages to come. I still used my old XBox as a DVD player up until I got a PS3. The versitility of the PS3 is awesome and makes it a better investment than the 360, in my opinion.

You play much BC2 Hedges? Gota love the Battlefield series!

yeah I have BC2, but for first person shooters it's PC all the way for me, too used to a mouse & keyboard and can't adapt to a controller.

Can see the benefits of PS3 and of Xbox , but i know more people with Xbox's so playing online lending games etc.. is far easier.

Cant wait to join the rest of the boys in the office in our own western possie

yeah, to be honest i wasnt really interested in the game before the weekend. But after playing it for an hour, i can see it being the kind of game oi could play for a few hours here and there.

When i completed Saints Row 2, it left a big hole in my xbox gaming, hopefully this will fill the void
