Please wait for group policy - SBS 2008
I have a client with an SBS 2008 server.

One of their users who logs on remotely using Citrix just called to say they were getting a message about their remote login priviledges being disabled.

I just connected to their VPN and went to RDP to their SBS server and it is stuck at "Please wait for the Group Policy Client"

I have some reading on this and all suggests it is either a DNS issue or the server has been moved to the wrong OU.

However as this is the SBS server I have no ability to change either of these things without logging in to it, which is impossible as it is stuck at the above message.

Any ideas?

RE: Please wait for group policy - SBS 2008
I have had this before where the client had changed the DNS settings on the server to include an external DNS server which then stopped the server from being able to resolve the local domain correctly. If you can get logged in to either safe mode or as a local user so the domain access is not needed.

You can then check the DNS settings are set to 127.0.0.1 if that is not the case another windows seven/vista machine on the network with RSAT tools may allow you to trouble shoot a little.

On a completely unrelated note I was hoping your QR code was some clue to some internet wide puzzle hunt.

@iamwithstupid unfortunately no, just my own little blog spam :-)

Another thought on the issue is you may be able to get more information on the underlying issue if you do a runas on mmc.exe to open it with admin credentials of the remote domain then add the computer management snapin from the remote computer you may be able to access the event logs to get a better idea of exactly what the problem is.
