repeated limited or no connectivity
my laptop keeps loosing internet connection and producing limited or no connectivity situations and i dont understand why.
I have this problem on my home network (even if i put the laptop next to the DG834G netgear), and on the university roaming network. Ive looked through a similar thread that concluded that p2p networks were involved. There is no p2p on my home network. One other computer is often connected and is used for browsing only. on some days i dont have this problem, on others i can loose connection every 10-20mins. If i do a repare on the network it reconnects. But in 20mins time i can go from 54mps and full strength to limited or no connectivity. I have a freeware version of AVG installed and do a clean install/format of my C drive about twice a year. The other partition is rarely cleaned out. My lapton is about 5 years old, built by microlink and runs xpsp2 thankyou |

RE: repeated limited or no connectivity
Hi de5me7, welcome to Techmonkeys
![]() You say you have this issue at home and on the University network? That sounds a little strange as I would have said this issue is more than likely due to someone else having a wireless network that is interfering with your own. That said, what you first should try is updating the drivers for your wireless card. You can find out which wireless driver you need, by looking in network adapters in the device manager. Then search the web for the latest drivers, usually at the manufacturers website. Once you have them downloaded, go back in to device manager, right click on your wireless card and choose uninstall. Then install the new drivers (a reboot may be required). - Techmonkey ================ Enterprise Business IT Support | SME IT Support | Home Support Available |
