(SOLVED) Windows cannot access the specified path
Ok so this is annoying.

We have just inherited a new setup from an internal IT guy who like making things secure, but made a real bodge job of it.

I am trying to install a program on one of the servers, logged in as domain admin.

I tried initially installing it from the network and got this message:

Quote:Widnows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item
[/quote]

I then moved the file to the C: of the server I am trying to install on and get the same error?

I have tried adding \\servername to the trusted sites in IE as I saw this as a potential fix somewhere, but no joy Sad

Anyone got any ideas?

Server 2003

We get this error quite a lot where we redirect user profiles to a server but moving the file to the C:\ drive usually fixes it. One thing you could check is that domain admin are a member of the local admin group as this may have been changed as part of his efforts to lock down the system

Well Ihave never seen this before, but when you right click on the file, choose properties then you have an option at the bottom for "UNBLOCK". click it and bingo :/
